Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes 6-17 Review

Today we're going to review part number 6-17. This is the mounting nut for the 7/16th size mounting bolt for seven and ten inch brake assemblies. Now this is a size 7/16ths by 20. That means the diameter of the bolt used on this is 7/16ths and the 20 means 20 threads per inch on the bolt. This nut is to be used with the .. we do sell that bolt separately.

It's part number 7-75. This is the 7/16ths brake mounting bolt that's used on the seven and ten inch brake assemblies. We do sell this separately. It is listed on the product page for the nut as a related product. Basically as you can see, that's designed to screw onto the bolt.

Another piece that you need to use with these pieces, we also sell separately and it's listed on the product page as a related product, is the lock washer for the 7/16ths bolt. That's part number 5-8. So basically, the lock washer would go on and then you use your nut. Just to give you an idea of the heads size on this nut, it does use a .. here's a 11/16ths socket and you can see that it's designed to fit in the 11/16ths socket and is used to tighten down or loosen this nut.

That should do it for the review on part number 6-17. This is the mounting nut for the 7/16ths bolt that fits the seven inch and ten inch brake assemblies.

Products are great and service was excellent. The packaging for the hubs was too light. By the time they got to me some of the boxes had holes and a couple parts were missing.. Etrailer very promptly sent me replacement parts.

by:

I don't remember the exact products I bought a year ago, except that it was an electric brake controller and a complete electric brake assembly. They've been working great, and etrailer has lived up to my expectations.

I bought for these brake assemblies. Installation was straight forward and after a year of use and about 3500 miles, they spray to be performing well. My only concern is one of the four occasionally sticks which heats up that wheel. Backing up a short distance seems to release it, but I'd like to feel more confident that it's working correctly.

by:

Needed to convert my wave runner trailer over to have brakes being I was going to tow it behind my 5th wheel. These guys set me up with everything I needed. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I also bought my 5th wheel hitch from them and they are by far the lowest on price and if not will match and adjust your bill. Wouldn't go anywhere else !

by:

Hydraulic trailer drum brakes. Received within a few days. Easy to install, not that complicated. Needed a second person to help bleed the brakes.

by:

So far, so good! The components arrived very quickly and in good shape via UPS. This morning I've installed both electric brake assemblies and now need to finish the electrical hookup which will be the easy part. My only concern is that there were no rubber plugs (4 grommets) to seal the brake shoe adjustment holes in the backside of the mounting plate. A view of the plate on your website shows these plugs.
I am installing these brakes on a custom built 6' X 12' cargo trailer which sees a lot of travel up and down mountain highways. Looking forward to finding out how they perform.

by:

I needed some brakes for my boat so I went back to my old reliable. One more excellent experience. I was missing some mounting hardware and they sent me replacements ASAP. Got the part and got em installed. Thanks etrailer team!

The 6-17 nuts for the four bolt brake mounting flange are an excellent replacement on my 1997 Coleman Fleetwood Bayports popup camper that I am close to finishing a restoration process on. They fit perfectly! Very happy to purchase an excellent product from the fastest shipper I have ever come across. I am blown away by the professionalism with this company!
Thanks

Bought 4 trailer brake assemblies with hardware. Assemblies looked great and assembled on axles with no problems. I thought I ordered lock washers with the hardware but they didn't come with. Packaging was good, nothing damaged in shipping.

by:

The brake assemblies I received seem to be just fine. They were a good fit on my trailer. Haven't completed the job yet to try the brakes out, but they look great. All my other parts were correct and very well packaged. I really appreciate the great customer service. These guys seem to really care.

by:

I read other customers reviews about the break setup not having these nuts and lock washers included. Good thing I ordered them with my order. My original nuts were rusted solid to the backing plate studs. I had to grind off the studs from the front of the break plate because there was no room from the back. The item worked as described. Make sure you put never seize on the studs before putting the nuts on. It will save you a lot of sweat and tears in the future. 2003 Jayco Kiwi 23b

Simply the best. Best price, best quality and easy to install. Also there are great videos etrailer has for installation of most of their parts. Dont waste your time shopping around. These gutd have the best price. Thanks guys

by:

Bought several items and the SERVICE and the PRICE were far superior to other Internet sites - and even local RV Centers!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND etrailer and Renee K. She is very knowledgeable and helpful, made good recommendations.
My purchases were smooth - and the products were the exact same quality and brand I could buy in Syracuse (at twice the price).

by:

Ordering was easy, brakes arrived when expected, I didn't realize I needed 4 adjustment plugs as old backing plates only used one apiece.
Brakes work great and if I figure out how to transfer and send pictures I took I will. Thanks for satisfying experience etrailer.

by:

The ordering was simple, the price was excellent and the product (dexter electric drum brakes) was as advertised, and is woking perfectly. Thanks etrailer for being there when I needed you.

by:

All the brake parts that I ordered were there and on time. The videos were a nice complement to the installation instructions. They are working fine .

by:

I bought this to go with the brake/backing plate I ordered. easier to get it delivered with other parts than to go searching while replacing the brakes.

by:

Thalinks for my 10k electric brakes that I recieved 2 days after I ordered, and had installed them on my 40' gooseneck. They look just as good as the Dexter's I orders last time which cost me almost double.
I will be ordering from etrailer from now on.

by:

Worked fine on the new 10inch complete left and right hand brake assemblies I order and have installed. Sorry there is no pictures of the installation. But it works great.

by:

I used eight of these installing electric brakes on a dexter 2k axle. etrailer's service/delivery was extremely fast with the free shipping on orders over $150. I would buy again from etrailer.

by:

A nut is a nut, however these are SAE fine thread and 4ea. will be necessary to mount the plate to the axle flange. You can use the old ones if you so desire but I prefer to make my job as easy as possible. NOTE, as noted by Etrailer these do not come as part of the brake unit, they must be ordered as a accessory.

by:

I received the tru ryde brake assembly with nuts & washers all in good order. I attached the four parts on the axels with no difficulties at all.It was great doing business with etrailer.com. I'm sure I will be buying from them again.

by:

Hardware was correct and it worked fine on my brake assemblies.

by:

Amazingly, all the brake parts appeared to fit and so far so good....

by:

Knowledgeable Customer Service, Quick delivery, Quality parts. Pre-assembled brakes made this job a snap!

  • Fit & Compatibility of Timbren Axle-Less Suspension w/4" Lift & Electric Brakes on 1962 Airstream

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies, Drums and Bearings for 2007 Extreme Megalite 19LT Travel Trailer
For new brake assemblies, I'd recommend the etrailer.com 10 inch Self Adjusting assemblies, part # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left side and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right. For each assembly, you'll need 4 nuts, part # 6-17 and 4 lock washers, part # 5-8. Closely examine the armature surface of your existing brake drums (inside surface that the brake magnet rides against). If the surface is pitted or grooved, I'd recommend replacing the hub/drum so it doesn't prematurely wear the magnets on...

I would recommend looking at your existing bearings to confirm a match. If the existing bearings you have are # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer, these are the correct replacements. For electric brake assemblies, use # 23-26 for the left side, and # 23-27 for the right. The mounting nuts, # 6-17 and lock washers, # 5-8 are not included. You...

  • Which Hub Drums and Brake Assemblies for 3500lb Axle on Utility Trailer
It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on what you need. If your existing hubs use the 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle, and the surface of your spindle where the grease seal rides is around 1.719 inches, the # AKHD-545-35-K is the proper hub/drum. You can go with standard brake assemblies, like # AKEBRK-35L for the left side and # AKEBRK-35R for the right.
